Winter hikes and soaring emotions in the Wildkogel-Arena

The highest peaks of Hohe Tauern National Park at your fingertips

The winter hiking path on the Wildkogel, which links the mountain stations of the Smaragdbahn, Wildkogelbahn and Gensbichlalmbahn lifts, leads you out through a magnificent wintry-white paradise. In other words, the perfect opportunity to explore our famous local mountain on foot. Regardless of where you start out – be that from the top of the Wildkogelbahn or Smaragdbahn – the glorious panorama of the Hohe Tauern’s countless 3,000ers, and especially of Salzburg’s highest peak, the Grossvenediger (elev. 3657 m), is certain to astonish you.

Along this winter hiking path, a number of cozy terraces provide a perfect opportunity to make yourself comfortable, enjoy a delicious selection of typical regional dishes and absorb the amazing scenery.

Actual trail time: ca. 1 hour, an easy walk
Opening times: in appropriate weather conditions, whenever the Wildkogel lifts are in operation
