Toboggan runs in the Wildkogel Arena

• The toboggan run closes completely and the lighting is switched off at 10.00 pm (on Mondays: closure at 6.00 pm)
• Please stop and wait only in the designated waiting areas, and under no circumstances in the bends.
• Only cross the toboggan run at clear, unobstructed points.
• When the toboggan run is very busy, significant ridges may form on the track; we ask you to adjust your speed to the conditions on the toboggan run.
• You should also expect to encounter skiers on the toboggan run.
• Always hold on to your sledge by the strap to avoid putting other sledge users at risk and to prevent your sledge from getting lost.
• Appropriate clothing is essential to fully enjoy the ride. We particularly recommend ski goggles, a scarf, a hat, ski trousers or gaiters, gloves, and sturdy boots – not ski boots. Children up to and including 6 years of age should ride on their parents’ sledge! Tip: Sledging with a helmet is even safer!
• Please be considerate of other toboggan run users. Behave in such a way that no one else is endangered or harmed.
• Alcohol impairs your ability to control your sledge. Drugs reduce your reaction times and your ability to assess risks correctly.
• Sledging on ski slopes is dangerous and prohibited.
• No dogs! Four-legged friends must stay at home whilst you’re tobogganing. The risk of collisions is too great.
• Descend in a controlled manner! Descend within sight and at a safe distance from other tobogganers. Adjust your speed and riding style to your ability, the volume of traffic and the conditions.
• Observe closures and warning signs.
• For assistance following an accident, the Euro-Emergency number (112) and a location code are displayed on every second lighting pole. Secure the accident site and warn approaching tobogganists. Rescue and the billing of rescue costs are handled by the Austrian Red Cross.

Minors under the age of 15 must wear a standard winter sports helmet when using ski slopes and toboggan runs as part of their winter sports activities.

• Parents, guardians and supervisors must ensure compliance with this requirement to the best of their ability.
• Head protection must also be worn when using other winter sports equipment, such as skibobs or toboggans, on groomed slopes.
• The helmet requirement applies in the province of Salzburg.
• The law does not provide for checks on compliance with the helmet requirement. Nor will there be any penalty for parents or guardians if a child is not wearing a helmet. The aim is simply to raise awareness of how dangerous skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing without a helmet can be for children.
• However, in the event of an accident, failure to comply with the helmet requirement could lead to problems with insurance companies, which may refuse to cover the costs of the accident.

In any case, it would be sensible for children, teenagers and adults alike to wear a helmet (these can also be hired from all ski hire shops or ski schools – subject to availability), as most skiing accidents result in serious head injuries. Wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of a serious head injury.
