The Wildkogel Arena Ski Area
A paradise for families, rookies and returning skiers
The Wildkogel Arena, our family-friendly ski area in the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region, offers a magical snow-sports experience for beginners and experienced skiers on 64 km of beautifully groomed pistes. With the Wildkogelbahn lift in Neukirchen and the Smaragdbahn in Bramberg, you will be able to enjoy a comfortable ride up to 2100 m above sea level, where you will be greeted by glorious views of the 3,000-meter peaks of the Hohe Tauern range.
Once at the top - whether you prefer a more-laid back experience or an exciting high-speed adventure on skis, want to cut your own tracks through the deep-snow on your snowboard or set out on a ski tour through virgin nature - the Wildkogel Arena, in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps, promises ideal conditions for a wide selection of winter sports. Due to a full range of difficulty, with slopes that are mainly rated "blue" or "red", the multiple-award-winning ski area on the Wildkogel is ideally suited for families, beginners and those returning to the sport after a bit of a hiatus. And for your added enjoyment, other extended ski areas, such as the Zillertal Arena and the Kitzbühel Alps - with around 300 kilometers of pistes in total - are also located close by. Likewise, winter hikers and sun worshipers also discover their own piece of heaven with us.
10-passanger gondola lift "Ganzer X-press"
For even greater quality, comfort and multiple-award-winning skiing enjoyment, the Wildkogel lift company is building the new 10-passenger gondola lift known as the “Ganzer X-press”. The new “Ganzer X-press” 10-passenger gondola lift runs from the Ganzer Grundalpe to the top of the Pfeifferköpfl, crossing the line of the existing Pfeifferköpfl 6-seater chairlift and requiring construction of a new mountain station some 60 meters west of the existing mountain station of the Pfeifferköpfl lift.
The project will result in the creation of some 2.5 km of new pistes, which will also be equipped with snowmaking capability.
On 25 April 2017, the Ski Area Winter Awards 2016/17 and presentation of the International Piste Seal of Quality took place on Achensee in Tyrol. Members of International Ski Area Test were once again out and about undercover, evaluating ski areas, services and facilities according to established criteria. The results of their quality check were announced at the 22nd Ski Area Test Awards:
In January, 508 tobogganers set a new world record in Wildkogel-Arena Neukirchen & Bramberg: Creating the longest-ever toboggan chain, they were officially awarded the title by Guinness World Records™. In addition, Ski Area Test honored the occasion with its own award for the Best Event. The International Sled Run Seal of Quality, presented this year for the first time, also went to the Wildkogel Arena, home of the world’s longest toboggan run spanning 14 km and dropping a grand total of 1300 meters in elevation. In addition to that, the lift company itself was proud to receive recognition in the form of the award for Friendliest Lift Employees.
Ski Helmet Requirement in Austria:
Minors under 16 years of age must wear a standard commercial winter sports helmet whenever using the ski slopes to participate in winter sports.
Nonetheless, outfitting children under your supervision with helmets (which can be borrowed either for free or at minimal expense from area rental centers as well as ski schools) is the most sensible step, since most skiing accidents also involve a high risk of severe head injury – with a helmet, you can significantly reduce the risk of major head trauma.
If you don't want your skiing enjoyment to stop at sunset, on Tuesday and Wednesday you also have the option to ski under the lights at the Preimis Lift from 5 until 8:30 p.m. The charge for adults is € 8.00 and € 4.00 for children.
Whether you prefer to ski at your own pace, an exhilarating ride on the Ski Movie course, or perhaps a bit of night skiing - here in the Wildkogel Arena, a wide variety of enjoyable skiing adventures are possible! And as an added bonus: How about those fantastic views of the Hohe Tauern peaks!More information >
