The Wildkogel-Arena ski resort
A paradise for families, beginners and those returning to the sport
The Wildkogel Arena, a family-friendly ski resort in the Salzburg region of Austria, offers a fantastic winter sports experience for beginners and advanced skiers alike from mid-December until after Easter, with 75 km of perfectly groomed slopes where snow is guaranteed. The Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen and the Smaragdbahn in Bramberg take you comfortably up to 2,100 metres above sea level, where a magnificent view of the many 3,000-metre peaks in the Hohen Tauern National Park holiday region awaits you. With its range of difficulty levels, featuring mainly blue and red runs, the multi-award-winning Wildkogel ski area is ideal for families, beginners and those returning to the sport. The larger ski areas, such as the Zillertal Arena and the Kitzbühel Alps, with around 300 kilometres of slopes, are located in the immediate vicinity.

Minors under the age of 15 must wear a standard winter sports helmet when using ski slopes and toboggan runs as part of their winter sports activities.
- Parents, guardians and supervisors must ensure compliance with this requirement to the best of their ability.
- Head protection must also be worn when using other winter sports equipment, such as skibobs or toboggans, on groomed slopes.
- The helmet requirement applies in the province of Salzburg
- The law does not provide for checks on compliance with the helmet requirement. Nor will there be any penalty for parents or guardians if a child is not wearing a helmet. The aim is simply to raise awareness of how dangerous skiing or snowboarding without a helmet can be for children.
- However, in the event of an accident, failure to comply with the helmet requirement could lead to problems with insurance companies, which may refuse to cover the costs of the accident.
In any case, it would be sensible to ensure that children, teenagers and adults themselves wear a helmet (these can also be hired from all ski hire shops or ski schools – subject to availability), as most skiing accidents result in serious head injuries. Wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of a serious head injury.
