Winter hiking in the Wildkogel Arena
The highest peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park within easy reach
It’s time to immerse yourself in the winter wonderland along the Wildkogel winter hiking trail, which links the mountain stations of the Smaragdbahn, the Wildkogelbahn and the Gensbichlalmbahn. This means you can also explore our local mountain on foot. No matter where you start – at the mountain stations of the Wildkogelbahn or the Smaragdbahn – the magnificent panorama of the many 3,000-metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern and the “highest peak in Salzburg”, the Großvenediger (3,657 m), will leave you in awe.

As you walk along the winter hiking trail, treat yourself to some typical Pinzgau specialities on the cosy viewing terraces of the mountain restaurants.
Walking time: approx. 1 hour (one way).
Opening hours: during the operating hours of the Wildkogel mountain railways, weather permitting.
