A thrilling descent into the valley, bend after bend: the approximately 4.5 km-long mountain cart track on the Wildkogel is one of the most popular summer experiences in the SalzburgerLand. On three wheels, you head from the top station of the Smaragdbahn towards the middle station – safe, action-packed and perfect for families, friends and anyone who wants to experience the mountain in a different way.

On the Wildkogel Mountaincart, you’ll experience a unique combination of nature, panoramic views and speed. The 4.5-kilometre route takes you downhill – past alpine meadows, with stunning views and plenty of fun.

Information & Requirements
- The route is open until 4 pm during the Smaragdbahn’s opening hours!
- Helmets are compulsory: a helmet is included in the price
- For safety reasons, children under 4 years of age are not permitted to ride the Mountaincarts.
- Children aged between 4 and 9 may ride accompanied by an adult.
- Children aged 10 and over and at least 150 cm tall may drive a Mountaincart themselves – in the presence of an adult supervisor.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions about the Mountaincart Wildkogel
Unfortunately, little adventurers under the age of 4 will have to wait a little longer – for safety reasons, they are not yet allowed to ride.
However, children aged between 4 and 9 can already set off on an adventure with an adult and enjoy the ride.
From the age of 10 and with a minimum height of 150 cm, children are allowed to steer their own Mountaincart – naturally, accompanied by an adult supervisor.
No, a booking is not necessary. The Mountaincarts are in constant use. The cable car staff at the middle station immediately send the carts back up to the top station via the gondola.
The Mountaincart track is open until 4 pm during the Smaragdbahn’s opening hours.
