- Organic Crater Garden -
A place to look, marvel and learn: a Crater Garden created by Rosemarie and Hans Möschl after the major flooding of the River Salzach in 2005, located in the small Bramberg community of Schönbach. The structure of the garden, its southerly orientation, the terracing, water and, of course, the plants themselves are all consistent with the ideas of permaculture. This integrated system, which was developed by Australian Alternative Nobel Prize Winner Bill Mollison, is based on a holistic approach, consisting of agriculture, horticulture, architecture, ecology and financial management.
The Crater Garden is intended to function as a natural cycle: the plants, from annual lettuces to over ninety fruit trees along the upper crater edge, mutually influence and benefit from each other.
