Overview of Attractions
“Lebensraum” Seminar Center
Bramberg Museum has been housed at the Wilhelmgut, one of the oldest buildings in Bramberg, since 1979. The collection of pieces documenting local history and folk heritage began at the end of the 1950s and has been constantly expanded ever since.
To make it easier for visitors to find their way around Bramberg Museum, a color-coded navigation system leads through the various collections. In the lower section of the house, an impressive National Park exhibition casts light on the mineral wealth of the Hohe Tauern, allowing you to gaze upon the sparkling emeralds that have made Habachtal valley world famous. Remodeling work and additions conducted in 2010 gave the mineral department at Bramberg Museum a whole new, and more modern look.
The upper portion of the house is dedicated to regional and local cultural history. Here, you learn more about the history of the Wilhelmgut itself, about life as it was once led in the "emerald village" of Bramberg am Wildkogel, religious folk art, along with the diverse flora & fauna of the region. On the top floor, you will find yet another focus of the museum: an exhibition of beekeeping through the ages, including a living beehive.
Even the outdoor area of Bramberg Museum is well worth exploring, featuring 11 original buildings and a mining section.
Beginning at the end of the Achental, the waters of the Krimml Waterfalls first flow across gentle alpine meadows, until, when they reach the mouth of the valley, they plunge in three separate tiers a total of 380 meters into the depths below.
Enabling you to enjoy this impressive natural spectacle up close, the Waterfall Path features numerous viewing platforms. This over 100-year-old pathway leads visitors alongside the falls and all the way to the top, treating you to spectacular views of the highest waterfalls in Europe and the fifth-highest in the whole world.
During your hike, enjoy the beautiful nature which surrounds Krimml Waterfalls, or, if you are taking a tour on your mountain bike, be sure to include a short stop or two along the way.

The Kammerlanderstall in Neukirchen dates back to the 18th century and is the seat of Tauriska, a Pinzgau cultural society in the Wildkogel Arena, in the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region. The society pursues the goal of promoting regional and cultural independence, and has already successfully supported and initiated numerous projects.
The centuries-old, well-preserved Kammerlanderstall hosts talks and courses, along with readings and concerts. Old though the exterior may be - its interior provides the setting for state-of-the-art conference technology. Guests can also enjoy exhibitions of contemporary art.
The Leopold Kohr Academy, a Tauriska institution, and the Steinberg Thoma Museum are both also housed in the Kammerlanderstall in Neukirchen am Grossvenediger.
Historic Hochfeld Mine
The Samplhaus in Bramberg is a place of encounter. The focus is on people and their place in society. In keeping with this theme, an events series was created known as "Looking over the fence".
The Samplhaus in Bramberg has actually existed since about the year 1500 and, for the most part, is still in its original condition. The harmonious and authentic interior of the house was renovated with painstaking care, its rustic rooms now used for special events including exhibitions and seminars.
In front of the house is a beautifully tended garden, where, amongst other things, vegetables are grown for sale at the weekly market held at the Samplhaus. Visitors can also view a traditional Pinzgau hay barn, a wind harp and a religious way-side altar.

Pomarium Fruit Path
Pomarium Fruit Path
We have evidence of commercially successful fruit growing in Pinzgau going back over 150 years. In Bramberg, especially, the cultivation of traditional varieties, including "Zwiebler", "Borsdorfer", "Weinling" and "Spitzling", plays a prominent role. The Pomarium, at the Reitbauer Farm in Wenns in the Wildkogel Arena, is unique in the Oberpinzgau in terms of its size and design, and is a direct result of those developments.
On lands that feature a mixed-orchard habitat, uniquely valuable in terms of its ecology and how it shapes the landscape, the old varieties have been preserved, while the planting of new trees has expanded the visual appeal of the garden as well as the variety of the harvest itself.
The orchard is open to the general public throughout the year. A variety of improvements and updated info boards, providing background facts about the growers, cultivation, as well as the trees and fruits, turn your visit into a memorable experience. Also located right there in the orchard, a bee house impressively demonstrates the connection between successful fruit growing and these, proverbially as well as figuratively, busy insects.
At the Salzburger Wollstadel in Bramberg am Wildkogel in Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region, sheep's wool is processed with boundless craftsmanship, thought and care into beautiful products, which visitors are welcome to purchase.
Here at the "Stadel", you have the opportunity to buy handmade and contemporary knit jackets made from the wool of mountain- and Merino sheep, timeless slippers, warm hand-knitted caps, beautiful lifestyle accessories and much more. In addition, you can also order individually tailored knitwear items, which will then be created with loving attention to every detail.
And if you wish, you are welcome to take part in a felting course for big and small - a great experience for the whole family!
Stop by and allow yourself to be captivated by a wide selection of regional products. Who knows, perhaps you will also discover a gift or two for your loved-ones back home.
Striding through shallow, cool water stimulates blood circulation and fortifies your immune system. In addition, walking barefoot strengthens your muscles and enhances wellbeing. Good reasons, indeed, to actively enjoy the Kneipp opportunities available to you while you are out and about in the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region.
And since the water in Kneipp pools provides especially welcome refreshment while you are hiking, running or Nordic walking, along the Emerald Path and in Wenns, as well as at the Geisl-Hochalm, you will be able to tread with your warm feet through cold water. Other stations give you the chance to do a few stretching exercises as well.
Kneipp therapy allows you to do something good for your body - Try if for yourself! We wish you wonderful refreshment in the Kneipp "spas" of the Wildkogel Arena!
