Enjoy nature during a memorable family hike, refresh yourself in the mist cast off by a waterfall. A green natural backdrop and a world of glaciers provide ample space for all of your personal vacation impressions.

Wandern Wildkogel-Arena

The opportunities available to you during Summer 2014 are an ideal way to discover the unique natural and cultural setting of the National Park accompanied by a local expert. A love for nature is, without a doubt, the most important requirement for participating in these excursions. A certain degree of restraint, patience and a little experience out in the open countryside are other “items” you should have tucked away in your pack as well.

With views of the Habachkees, the group will scale the 1,500 metres elevation gain to the top, stopping off at the Thüringerhütte Hut and guided by a park ranger. The descent is on the other wind gap, past the Fürtherhütte Hut in Vordermoos into Hollersbachtal valley and the Ofner Boden slope.

View through the Tauern Window – Alpine Geology

It is rare for geology to be presented in the same exciting and easily understandable way as it is on the “Geolehrweg” path in Untersulzbachtal. The hike begins at Gasthof Schütthof in the Sulzau section of Neukirchen and ends at the Martinsstollen entrance to the former Hochfeld mine. Several info stations along the route afford intriguing insights into the geology of the so-called Tauern Window. A visit inside the actual Martinsstollen is yet another highlight of this day.
